Branded Apparel with Purpose

Branded apparel makes up a large part of promotional budgets but they are really in a category all their own when it comes to choosing the right piece to carry your brand and how that brand is displayed.

When choosing apparel, think about your audience first.

·        Is it a t-shirt for a bulk giveaway?

·        Are you giving dress shirts to staff members?

·        Is it a polo shirt for a golf team you’re sponsoring or corporate gifting?

Then think about if the garment is appropriate for the purpose you have in mind.

If it’s for a bulk t-shirt giveaway at an event, it will most likely be a higher volume and you really won’t know who it will go to specifically.  You’ll want to make the branding more casual and fun with a streetwear vibe.  It’s important to choose a t-shirt that will be comfortable to wear and in a range of the most popular sizes.

If you are doing dress shirts for staff, choose a fabric that will compliment the working environment.  Employees who work outside in the summer will appreciate a moisture wicking fabric while inside staff might like an easy-care cotton blend. When adding your brand, it should be done in a tasteful size and displayed in a prominent location like a left chest so the recipient is clearly identified as a staff member.

If you are sponsoring an event like a golf tournament or giving a corporate gift, the recipient will appreciate a high-quality shirt with a more subtle location for your corporate logo, such as a sleeve or on the upper centre back. If your brand is dominating, it will possibly never leave the closet.

Branded apparel has to be seen to generate value for you. When you create logoed apparel, make sure it’s the right product and the right branding design. It really does make a difference!
